Projects Supported by the North Bay Watershed Association

CURRENT PROJECTS

Climate Ready North Bay

With Sonoma Ecology Center as the lead, this initiate is assisting water sector decision-makers, policy writers and planners –in both city and county government and natural resource organizations — to better use locally relevant climate change science in everyday planning and decision-making. This effort will result in improved understanding throughout the North Bay about climate change information and data available to help with forward-looking planning. LandSmart and STRAW [Students and Teachers Restoring a Watershed]

This is a project of the Napa RCD in cooperation with Point Blue’s STRAW program. For school year 2015/16 LandSmart® for Kids Youth Stewards program focused on climate study and career exploration for high-school aged students. Several high-schools participated over the school year and through the project have access to local restoration efforts where they were able to learn first hand about issues, methods and opportunities. FUNDED PROJECTS

Past Regional Projects

Integrated Regional Water Management Plan

In 2005, NBWA completed an Integrated Regional Water Management Plan (IRWMP) to better manage water resources and enhance habitat in the North Bay region using the information developed in the Watershed Stewardship Plan. The goal of the IRWMP is to identify and understand the competing needs and issues of the region’s water resources and integrate these needs into a comprehensive management plan. The IRWMP prioritized projects and developed policies, implementation steps, and performance measures. North Bay Watershed Stewardship Plan NBWA developed the Watershed Stewardship Plan (Plan) in 2004 to provide a framework for protecting and enhancing the natural resources within the NBWA region of the North Bay. The Plan used a consensus-based approach to develop goals and objectives and compiled an inventory of projects and a GIS database.
