Uplands: Persistence and Change

Large remnants of all upland habitats have persisted, although the species composition of the grasslands and the understories of the forests have changed significantly due to invasion by non-native species. Some of the grassland in the transitional zone between the upper watershed and the valley has been lost to urbanization.
